Getting your business on Google is easier than you think and it helps local customers find you fast!
🌟 Get Your Business Found on Google!
If you have a physical location, a Google Business Profile (formerly Google Places) is an easy way for local customers to find you when they search online. It shows your contact information, hours, and reviews right on Google, often before websites appear.
Without it, you may not show up at all. With it, you look more trustworthy, easier to contact, and more professional with very little effort.
How to Set Up a Google Business Profile
Step 1: Sign in to Google
Open a web browser like Chrome or Safari.
Go to google.com.
Click “Sign in” in the top right corner.
Use your Gmail email and password.
If you do not have a Gmail account, click “Create account” and follow the prompts.
Step 2: Go to Google Business Profile
In the browser address bar, type: google.com/business
Press Enter.
Click the button that says “Manage now”.
Step 3: Add Your Business Name
Type your business name exactly as you want it to appear on Google.
If your business already shows up, select it.
If not, choose the option to create a new business.
Step 4: Choose Your Business Type
Select whether your business has a physical location customers can visit or if you travel to customers.
If you work from home and do not want your address public, choose a service area business.
Step 5: Enter Your Address or Service Area
If you have a storefront, enter the full address.
If you travel to customers, enter the cities or areas you serve instead.
Double check spelling before continuing.
Step 6: Pick a Business Category
Choose the category that best describes what you do.
This helps people find you in search results.
You can add more categories later, so just pick the best one for now.
Step 7: Add Contact Information
Enter your phone number.
Add your website if you have one.
If you do not have a website, you can skip this step.
Step 8: Verify Your Business
Google needs to confirm you own the business.
Most businesses are verified by postcard, phone call, or email.
Follow the instructions Google gives you.
Verification can take a few days.
Step 9: Complete Your Profile
Once verified, log back into your profile.
Add business hours.
Write a short description of what you do.
Upload a few clear photos of your business, products, or work.
Step 10: Keep It Updated
Check your profile regularly.
Update hours for holidays.
Add new photos from time to time.
Respond to reviews when customers leave them.
Final Tip
You do not need to be perfect. An incomplete profile is far better than no profile at all. Set it up then improve it a little at a time.
